Friday, September 26, 5:00 PM – Hike, Wine, & Dine – Hike on Candy Mtn with the Wine and Dine portion at Kitzke Cellars.
Take advantage of an unusual opportunity to hike Candy Mountain with Friends of Badger Mountain, followed by wine tasting and dining at Kitzke Cellars in Richland. The group will meet at 5 PM Friday, Sept. 26 at Kitzke Cellars to start the hike, which will take about 1 hour. Hikers are then invited to taste wines and enjoy a light meal at this award-winning boutique winery set at the base of Candy Mountain.
During the hike, participants will hear an update on the Friends of Badger Mountain’s Ridge Preservation and Trail Campaign. FOBM is aiming to create a contiguous 20-mile trail that will start at Amon Basin and span Little Badger, Badger, Candy, and Red Mountains, all the way to the Yakima River in the west. The next step in this campaign is to purchase the land to create a preserve on Candy Mountain and a trail link from Badger to Candy. The cost of this Hike, Wine and Dine is $30, with proceeds going toward the campaign.
Kitzke Cellars is located at 72308 E 260 Private Rd NE in Richland, just off Dallas Rd (map). Wear sturdy shoes as the trail is rocky, and bring water.
