Trailwork Party – March 21st

March 21, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

Volunteer for Trailwork

For this trailwork party we will be meeting near the restroom building at Trailhead Park.

There are two tasks we will be working on. One is continuing regular trail maintenance by recovering the gravel that has slipped past the rock edging on the Canyon Trail. The gravel protects the trail from getting potholes and it doesn’t do that well if it is down the hillside. For this work we will be using rakes and McLeods, a beefed up rake-hoe combination.

The second task is to place rocks along the edge of the Sagebrush Trail where we rebuilt the corner a couple of weeks ago. The rocks support the edge of the trail. Without them the edge crumbles and the tread breaks down. The rocks also help the users stay on the trail and like mentioned above, keep that gravel on the trail. The tools we use are garden trowels and packing sticks. The work is different from most other trail work because you get to use your creative brain power.

Signups help our trailmaster with planning and making sure he bakes enough cookies. Sign-ups are also good in case of last minute changes to the schedule. Please let our trailmaster know that you are coming by sending an email to [email protected]
