Trailwork Party – November 28th

November 28, 2021 @ 8:30 am - 12:30 pm

This week we will continue working up near the summit of Candy Mountain adding more rocks to the downhill edge of the trail.  This is needed because the edge of the trail is breaking down causing the trail to get wider and sloped.  We dig a small hole to hold the rock and then tamp dirt in around it to make it stable.  We will be using a pickup truck and our gravel hauler to move the rocks to the work site so the hard part is made easy.  We will be using shovels and hand trowels to place the rocks.  With the rain we have been getting, it is near ideal soil conditions to be doing this work.

We will be meeting at the Trails Building in the Westgate parking lot off of Dallas Road, 5305 East PR 210 at 8:30 am.  Please be on time.  We will then carpool over to near the work location.

The trailmaster will provide all the tools.  Volunteers will need to bring work gloves, water and snacks with a small pack to carry them, and dress for the weather forecast.  There isn’t any work for preteens and younger, it is hard to keep them motivated for 4 hours.  Back again this fall the trailmaster will be providing homemade cookies for the morning break!

You will need to sign-up so the trailmaster can tell you if the meeting location changes.  Please let the trailmaster know that you are coming by sending an email to [email protected]
