Spring Trail Work – March 26th

The main work will be to continue recovering the gravel up the Sagebrush Trail.  Those pesky hikers tend to work the gravel over to the side, we rake it back into the trail and clean up the edges then relevel the trail bed.  We try to do this work for all the trails each year.  We will use the McLeods (large rake/hoe combination), garden and leaf rakes. We will be meeting at 9 AM at Trailhead Park near the restroom building. I like people…

The trail bed is a bit rough after all the hikers that used it when it was muddy but no washouts from the melting snow and rain. The main work will be to recover the gravel that has worked to the edge of the trails and relevel the trail bed. Sagebrush Planting Party

Friends of Badger Mountain and the Washington Native Plant Society will be planting sagebrush in a buffer area between the soon-to-be parking lot for the new Candy Mtn. trail and nearby houses. We only have 60 sagebrush to plant – if we get 10 people that’s just 6 plants a piece and then we’re done! Join us this coming Friday, March 3, at 9 AM next to the future parking lot (see map). Hiker Rally Day 2017 (Washington Trails Association)

Without proper funding many of the trails Washington hikers love could be closed and neglected. Make your voice heard on this important issue. Each year, Washington Trails Association is in Olympia working with lawmakers to advance the interests of hikers. But we can’t do it alone. Decision-makers need to hear directly from hikers like you!
