SUMMARY:Weeding Crew - July 10th
DESCRIPTION:Board member Dave Beach will be leading a volunteer weeding crew on this day. \n\n\n\nDuties:  Locating and hand pulling Yellow Starthistle and Diffuse Knapweed Plants.  The Rush Skeletonweed plants are left rooted in the ground\, but are clipped of their blooms and buds\, and the remaining plant stems individually “painted” with Roundup herbicide (not all of our group does this job).  Plants range in size from short\, small plants only a few inches in height to larger branched plants that are nearly 3 feet in height\, and with thorns.  They may occur as single plants or in patches.  Presently we are seeing some of the weeds approaching the blooming stage which makes them more distinguishable from the native plants.  Generally\, just pulling and bagging the plant material has proven to be the most practical method of removal\, while doing the least damage to the native plants. \n\n\n\nIf you’re interested in joining the weeding crews\, contact Dave at davidbeach47@gmail.com or by cell at 509-554-0919

SUMMARY:Weeding Crew - August 23rd
\n\n\n\nIf you’re interested in joining the weeding crews\, contact Dave at davidbeach47@gmail.com or by cell at 509-554-0919.

SUMMARY:Tailwork Party - October 24
DESCRIPTION:The work is recovering gravel that has worked its way to the edge of the trail. We will use McLeods (rake/hoe thingy) and rakes. We first pull the gravel back on to the trail and then rake it smooth. \n\n\n\nThe trailmaster will provide all the tools and even some homemade cookies at the mid-morning break. Volunteers need to bring work gloves\, water\, and snacks with a small pack to carry them\, and dress for the weather forecast. There isn’t any work for preteens and younger – it is hard to keep them motivated for 4 hours. You will need to sign-up so the trailmaster can plan the work and bake enough cookies. Please let the trailmaster know that you are coming by sending an email to trailmaster@friendsofbadger.org \n\n\n\nIf you can’t make it this week\, there will work parties on Thursday through Sunday\, until around Thanksgiving. We will see how the weather holds out.

SUMMARY:Trailwork Party - November 9th
DESCRIPTION:This week the trailmaster will be working on the east Skyline Trail\, continuing to remove rocks\, widen it out to 5 feet and then adding some new gravel.  A large group from Gesa already cleaned up about 700 feet of the trail this fall.  The actual work will be to remove rocks from the trail bed using pick mattocks and hauling the rocks off with our gravel hauler.  Then smoothing the trail out with McLeods and rakes and adding the new gravel. Please let the trailmaster know that you are coming by sending an email to trailmaster@friendsofbadger.org
