The trails came out of the winter in pretty good condition with no major damage. The trail bed is a bit rough after all the hikers that used it when it was muddy but no washouts from the melting snow and rain. The main work will be to recover the gravel that has worked to the edge of the trails and relevel the trail bed. For this work we will use the McLeods (large rake/hoe combination), garden and leaf rakes.
We will be meeting at 9 AM at Trailhead Park near the restroom building. I like people to tell me they are coming so I can plan the work and have the tools available. If you become available or have a friend you can just show up. We can be difficult to find if you miss the 9 AM meeting. Please send an email to Trailmaster@friendsofbadger.org (preferred) or call me at 943-3992.
Volunteers should bring work gloves, snacks and water, and dress for the weather forecast. Tools are provided. There is little work for those 12 and under, it is hard to keep them on task for 4 hours. If you have a group from work, church or the gym that would like to come at another time, I can work with you. If I can get some good sized work crews over the next few weeks, we have really good a chance of having the trails in great shape for the Badger Mountain Challenge.
